Award Winning
Fresh Home Grown
Christmas Trees
in the Surrey Hills and Kent

April is a very busy month in the Christmas tree growing calendar. This is the month when the new trees are planted. Other jobs in April include fencing and preparation of new plantations and fertilising our established trees.
It has been very busy at Santa Fir, organising the cold storage and arranging for the transplants (baby Christmas trees) to be delivered. It is essential to keep the plants cool to ensure they are as fresh as possible when planted.

This year we are planting 160,000 baby trees across our plantations. In ten years one of these could be gracing your front room at Christmas.

All the family get involved at this time of year and on Bank Holiday Monday Julie and Kristien could be seen on the planting machine! There is a very small window in which to get the plants in the ground so it's all hands to the pump. Apart from the odd flying stone, Julie really enjoys it, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing the lovely straight lines of newly planted trees. We now have all our fingers and toes crossed for some nice weather and just a little bit of rain so the baby Christmas trees can get established.

It's a satisfying time of year for us to view our established Christmas trees and our newly planted baby trees knowing that our efforts of planting 160,000 new trees are boosting the oxygen levels around our plantations.
